Jewson Employee fined for Safety Breach
A lorry loader working for builders merchant Jewson has been fined after another worker was crushed in the brick clamp of the lorry loader, leaving him with serious internal injuries.
Mark Pratten, an experienced lorry loader, used a brick clamp on a lorry crane to lift Peter Hoy, 47, a self-employed general builder off the roof of a cabin on a construction site while he was there to collect building materials from the site. Read More

In court....Meat plant fined £100k for forklift fatality
Food company, Vion Food Scotland Ltd has been fined £100,000 after a forklift truck driver hit a worker as he could not clearly see over the load he was transporting. 
George Hardie, 60, was walking across a yard when he was struck by the forklift truck trapping the lower part of his body. Paramedics battled to save him but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Read More

In court....Sonae Factory Fatality again
The HSE are investigating the death of Mr Kay who suffered fatal injuries at the Sonae Industrial site in Kirkby on 6 August. He was working for a company which was demolishing part of the site damaged by a fire at the beginning of June.
Mr Kay died at the scene shortly after emergency services were called. Read More

In court....Employee injured by falling stacker truck
An employee at Revelholme Marketing Ltd (trading as Unic International), was seriously injured when he was helping load a lorry using a semi-electric stacker truck. The truck tipped up on a kerb, falling onto the employee resulting in a fractured cheekbone, multiple skull injuries and long term impaired vision. Read More

In court....Firm fined for failing to control wood dust risk
Millbrook Furnishing Industries Limited in Southampton was prosecuted by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) for failing to control staff exposure to wood dust and adhesives.
The firm build hot tub decking with Western Red Cedar wood, bonded with isocyanate-based glue.
The HSE investigated after an employee complained of suffering from anaphylactic shock in February 2007. Read More
