About John Southall
After graduating from Birmingham University with an MSc in Environmental Health, John worked at Coventry City Council as a Health and Safety Inspector. During this time he completed a post graduate diploma in occupational health, safety and environment and completed a professional trainer certificate.
He left Coventry City Council to undertake Health and Safety Consultancy work. He has conducted work on behalf of the Federation of Tour Operators conducting health and safety and fire audits of hotels around the world including Thomas Cook Signature hotels in India, First Choice ski resorts in the French Alps and Virgin hotels in the Caribbean.
He has worked as a lecturer on the MSc in Environmental Health at Birmingham University. He is a Chartered member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH) and a member of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (MCIEH).
John has appeared on Real Story with Fiona Bruce and BBC Newsround discussing food safety matters.
In 2003 he founded Southall Associates.
