About Toby Thorp
Toby Thorp completed an MSc. in Environmental Health at Birmingham University. He has worked for several years as a Local Authority Environmental Health Officer enforcing health & safety and food safety legislation across an industrial area of the Midlands and within the commercial sector in central London. This work has included routine health and safety and food safety inspections in addition to major accident investigations and workplace fatalities. During his local authority work he further completed a post graduate diploma in Occupational Safety, Health and Environment and became a member of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH). Toby has presented to delegates in the hundreds at the annual CIEH conference on the topic of workplace stress and to the Water Management Society on the topic of legionella. He is also currently involved in a working group on LOLER (the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations) investigating possible improvements for industry practice and for the dutyholder guidance to these Regulations.
